Our engineers evaluate the connections and interdependencies of infrastructure and identify vulnerabilities and risks from natural, accidental or malicious threats. We employ approaches that enhance security and mitigate the effects of infrastructure failures. We also identify alternatives for resiliency improvement.

ITB’s strong background in applied science and mission assurance for complex systems means we apply a systems engineering approach and discipline to our critical infrastructure analysis methods. This “systems of systems” analysis provides an efficient and effective way to identify risks and potential mitigation strategies.

ITB has proven capability and understanding of critical space and ground systems throughout the NASA Agency. ITB engineers have conducted detailed vulnerability and risk assessments to improve the resilience of Global Positioning System (GPS) navigation, communication/data centers, electrical distribution, and emergency services. 

ITB is working with NASA sites in Europe and the European Space Agency to bring additional resiliency to critical ground systems. ITB is currently evaluating:

• Microgrids – allowing an entire complex to be operated purely off the grid.
• Renewable energy and energy storage options.

These technologies bring potential added benefits of reducing green house gas emissions and long-term operating costs. 

ITB has experience in strategic energy planning and forecasting for a Federal Agency with multiple field locations and a diverse portfolio of research and office facilities.  ITB operates the NASA Energy and Water Program, helping the Agency meet its energy and water management and reporting requirements. ITB develops energy forecasting tools, works with the NASA field Centers on managing energy and water data, supports energy audits and works with NASA on strategic planning and DOE reporting.

ITB’s proven methods assist clients in reducing negative environmental and human health impacts and better manage water, energy and waste while improving financial and operational outcomes.

Since 1999, ITB has been the prime contractor operating the PMO for NASA’s Technology Evaluation for Environmental Risk Mitigation (TEERM) contract, serving as the Agency’s integration activity for matters of environmental assurance, energy and water management, remediation technologies, corrosion control, and other professional services. We have delivered high quality performance and outstanding customer satisfaction, with average Contract Performance Assessment Report scores of VERY GOOD.

ITB provides complete project management and project life cycle support and analysis. We are instrumental in capturing the project’s vision, overseeing and managing gathering and clearly defining requirements, providing engineering design, systems analysis, testing/quality assurance and documentation support. ITB brings more than 20 years of award-winning experience managing projects for aerospace & defense clients.
